Ira Boyd Jones (1851-1927) was a native of Newberry, S.C.; graduated from Erskine College in 1870 and admitted to the bar in 1873. Speaker of the S.C. House of Representatives and Chairman of the Ways and Means Committee, 1890-1896. Vice President of the S.C. Constitutional Convention of 1895. Served on the S.C.
